## Frequently asked questions

### Is Lexo free?

Lexo is free to download, and you can read the first pages of any book for free. Premium unlocks reading beyond the preview and removes the free limits on books and flashcards. Cloud features use Lexo AI coins; check the app for current plans and prices.

### Do I need an account?

You do not need to create a Lexo account to start reading. Sign in to your Apple iCloud account if you want to sync between devices or use Lexo AI, which uses iCloud to keep track of your coins.

### Which languages can I learn?

You can learn 110+ languages with Lexo, including English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese and many more. Choose the language you want to learn and read your favourite books with a translation alongside the original.

### Can I use my own books?

Yes. Import your EPUBs and PDFs from Files or iCloud Drive. Translate a book into a second language, or merge two editions you already own into a parallel book.

### How good are the translations?

Translations help you follow the story while keeping the original close by. Quality varies with the language, writing style and translation engine, especially for idioms or unusual dialogue. You can compare both versions and retranslate a paragraph when something looks wrong.

### How do comics and manga get translated?

Lexo recognises the text on the page so you can look up words even when there is no selectable text. Lexo AI can translate comic and manga pages into a second edition to read alongside the original. Cloud translation needs an internet connection and uses coins.

### What are Lexo AI coins?

Coins pay for cloud features such as Lexo AI translation and AI audio reading. The amount depends on the task and the options you choose. Check the cost in the app before starting, and add more coins when you need them.

### Does it work offline?

You can read books and translations already saved on your device and review your saved flashcards offline. On-device translation requires the relevant language downloads first. Downloading books, iCloud sync and Lexo AI features need an internet connection.

### Can I export my flashcards?

Yes. Export your flashcards as an Anki deck to keep reviewing in Anki. The export includes your cards and their review progress.

### Which devices does it run on?

Lexo is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with Apple Watch for quick vocabulary reviews. Your library, reading position and flashcards can sync through iCloud across your reading devices.

### Is my reading private?

Your library is stored on your device and can sync through your own iCloud account. On-device translation and text recognition run locally. When you choose a cloud feature such as Lexo AI, the content needed for that request is sent for processing.
